ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR SPINAL CORD/TRAUMATIC BRAIN
INJURY RESEARCH INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRANT
APPLICATION - 2008
Advisory Council Intent/Areas of Primary Interest The intent of these grants is to promote new and exciting research studies that have potential to meet the goals of the Advisory Council as outlined in the Governor’s Executive Order 2007-17 (see www.scitbi.org ). The SC/TBI Advisory Council’s desire is to provide funding to support studies that will lead to finding a cure for, or mitigating the effects of, spinal cord or traumatic brain injury. Therefore, it is particularly interested in the timely application of knowledge acquired through this program into human therapies and applications which hold the potential to actively benefit those suffering from these conditions. The areas of primary interest to the Council are:
Funding Categories/Decisions Funding may be requested to support pilot studies or established programs of neuroscience research or rehabilitation. The Council anticipates funding both Major Grants (maximum $100,000 for one year with possible renewal for up to two additional years) and Pilot Grants (maximum $25,000 for one year) during the upcoming year. All grants are required to have a 1:1 match (in-kind match is permitted). Funding decisions will be made by the SC/TBI Advisory Council.

Application Deadline The application deadline is June 1, 2008 for both Pilot and Major Grants. Successful applicants will be notified by July 15, 2008 with startup dates negotiated thereafter. The Advisory Council reserves the right to adjust the award amount
depending on availability of funds or for any other reason it deems appropriate.
Such modifications/reductions will be finalized after consultation with
the PI.

Support, 5 most recent Publications pertinent to the application and other
information you judge to be pertinent (not to exceed 2 pages per PI/Co-PI and
not included in the 10 page limit).

Letters of Support: A letter of support is
required from each external collaborator in your proposed project.
This support letter should include, when applicable, commitment to any
match or other support to be provided to your project by his/her institution or
company. (This is not included in
