Application and Instructions *UPDATED 2/14/2008*
Letter Seeking Collaboration *UPDATED 5/13/2007*
Funded Research *UPDATED 2/24/2007*
The SC/TBI Council members would like to offer our
sincere thanks to Dr. John Koch for his dedication, support and
expertise during his tenure with the committee.
We can truthfully say that without his hard work, ideas, and insight
many of our accomplishments to date would not have happened. This
includes, but is not limited to assistance with the writing of the
Council Guidelines, grant reporting and communication with the offices
of both the Dean and the Governor.
He also played a significant role in organizing the successful SC/TBI
Symposium last fall. Without his help this would not have been possible.
His efforts in guiding us into a successful group, which resulted in
funding of many important and successful projects, will have far
reaching consequences on the lives of those who have a spinal cord or
brain injury.
We were certainly sad to hear the news, but wish Dr. Koch all the best
in his future professional developments.
The Spinal Cord / Traumatic
Brain Injury Research Fund was established in 2004 by the State of
South Dakota, Governor Michael Rounds. The purpose of the fund, which
is administered by the South Dakota Spinal Cord / Traumatic Brain Injury Research
Council is to:
-
promote research to
develop better understanding of causes and effective treatment
strategies for paralysis, sensory loss, and other consequences of
spinal cord/traumatic brain injury and disease.
- advance
knowledge of spinal cord/traumatic injury, repair, and regeneration.
- foster
collaborative interdisciplinary approaches.
- nurture
spinal cord/traumatic injury researchers through support of young
scientists.
