ProCord; A Clinical Trial for Acute & Complete Spinal Cord Injury

Proneuron Biotechnologies, Inc. is examining the effectiveness of activated macrophages (immune system cells derived from the patient's blood) in promoting recovery of neurological function in people who are within the first two weeks of sustaining a new spinal cord injury. This treatment involves the injection of macrophages derived from the patient's blood into the spinal cord just below the area of damage. The treatment, which must be provided within 14 days of spinal cord injury, requires a surgical procedure to open the spine for the injection of the macrophage cells into the spinal cord.
